Call for Candidates 2020
The Vancouver Island Party would like to invite you to be a VIP Candidate in the October 24 provincial election.
Nomination applications must be duly competed and accepted by the Elections BC District Electoral Officer or Elections BC Victoria headquarters by 1:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020. The deposit to Elections BC is $250.
The $250 deposit needs to be accompanied by the names, addresses and signatures of at least 75 persons in your riding.
We recommend that you submit 100 signatures in case some of them are inadmissible. Signatures must be from persons who are at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens and have lived in British Columbia for at least 6 months.
We can show you a very quick way of getting these signatures in one or two days at most.
To become a VIP candidate, you need to meet with me or someone else on our Party Council this week and do the following:
1. Fill our VIP Vetting Questionnaire.
2. Sign our VIP Code of Ethics.
3. Complete a Criminal Check.
4. Collect the 75 + signatures
5. Register with Elections BC and pay the $250 deposit.
Once accepted by us and Elections BC, you need to set up a campaign bank account and appoint a Financial Agent. You can be your own Financial Agent.
We would expect you review our VIP website, www.VanIsleParty.com, and support our policies, attend all-candidates meetings in your ridings and respond to media interviews. As VIP Leader, I will also handle media interviews and support your local issues.
We will have a meeting of all of our official VIP candidates next week to co-ordinate our campaigns.
There are 14 provincial ridings on Vancouver Island. It would be wonderful to have a VIP Candidate in each one of them.
The VIP has an auditor who will represent you if you raise or spend more than $10,000 and require an audit for Elections BC. You will need to name our auditor when you file with Elections BC.
I expect that your only expense will be the $250 deposit with Elections BC. If you raise money (see donations and tax credit table below), you can spend it on things like local advertising, travel expenses, office supplies, etc.
Time is very short to be a VIP candidate.
I am at your disposal this week to get you registered so that your name is on the ballot.
